A radio control boat works like RC vehicles or RC helicopters.  You will use a hand-held console which serves as the main controller of the RC boat.  This controller transmits signals to an on-board receiver.  Through the hand-held controller, you will be able to maneuver the boat and control its speed.  Standard radio controlled model boat comes in two variations.  The first is the hobby boat while the other is the toy variety.  For most beginners, it would be best to start your career as an RC boat captain using the toy variety.  This type is less powerful but cheaper than the hobby models.  Toy models can be used to sharpen your coordination and skills in controlling the boat.  Once you learn the basics of RC boat operation, you can now safely buy a hobby model to fully enjoy RC boating.
